Welcome
Welcome to Lauren Chase CBT. Whether you have long term difficulties or have recently found yourself struggling to cope with any thoughts, emotions or behaviours, you have come to the right place for help and support. I work with adults aged 18 and over, providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
About me
I am a highly skilled and professional BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with a vast knowledge and understanding of the psychological and biological processes that can contribute to how we think, feel, and act. I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients to explore evidence-based interventions which help achieve meaningful and measurable improvements in mental wellbeing.
Completing an undergraduate honours degree in Applied Bioscience and Psychology allowed me to develop my interests around the human brain and particularly how internal and external factors can contribute to and maintain mental health difficulties. Following from this I qualified as a secondary school biology teacher, and worked within this role for 12 years. Throughout my time as a teacher, my main priority was the health and wellbeing of each individual and I became a strong advocate for mental health. My career pathway changed after my father became mentally unwell. A new perspective led me to pursue a post-graduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Working with clients in this role, I have been able to utilise my personal and professional experience to maximise impact.
What is CBT?
CBT is shorthand for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The theory behind this talking therapy is that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are all interconnected and that each domain has an impact on the other two. As such, CBT aims to target these individual components using varying strategies that are tailored to a client’s specific needs. CBT is evidence based with ongoing scientific research providing strong evidence for the effectiveness in improving mental wellbeing.
CBT is a recommended treatment for many mental health problems such as:
Addictions
Anger
Anxiety
Depression
Insomnia
Low self esteem
OCD
Phobias
PTSD
Stress
